Self hypnosis is a powerful method to change things in your life that you're not happy with.  The great thing about self hypnosis is you don't need the aid of a hypnotherapist to get great results.  The process can be accomplished by almost anyone who wants to put forth the effort to learn how to induce the trance state of mind associated with hypnosis.

The first thing required in self hypnosis is your comfort. You should have a quiet area where there are no ambient noises to distract you and send your thoughts of into a different direction.  Your hypnosis area should be as pleasant as you can make it.  Most individuals like to lie down on either a bed or sofa to perform their self hypnosis.  Make sure that the light in the room is also not too bright or too dim. It is also a very important to wear comfortable clothes so that when you lie down you do not get uncomfortable.

Once you have your personal surroundings pleasantly prepared it is time for the first step in your self hypnosis journey.  At this time you must enter into a relaxation phase before you can begin your self hypnosis session.  One of the best ways to relax your body is to tense up the muscles in each section of your body and hold them for about three seconds before releasing them at a completely relaxed state.  It is recommended it to begin with your feet and work your way up your body.  You may want to do this up to three times depending on how tense you are prior to the self hypnosis session. Once you are completely relaxed you may begin the next phase.

After the relaxation phase comes the deepening phase of self hypnosis.  There are several ways to accomplish this, but the most popular by far is by counting in reverse.  Each individual will have a number which they prefer to count down from, it could be anywhere from as high as 100 down to as low as 20.  Your goal during this phase is to let your mind control your body and bring it down into a deeper and more relaxed state for the next phase.

Everything you have done up until now is to prepare you for the suggestion phase.  At this point in your self hypnosis session you will again to apply the desired suggestions.  These suggestions will enter into your subconscious mind because you are in such a relaxed state and are now in a hypnotic trance.  You now have the power to influence your behavior as well as your attitude depending upon what type of suggestions you enter into your mind at this time.  Be certain that do not use the word "you" when making your suggestions, but rather use the word "I" because you are making suggestions to yourself and thought someone else.

After you have finished making your suggestions, it is time to end the session.  It is important to always in your hypnotic session by acknowledging you are indeed in the hypnotic trance.  You should also state that you are coming out of the trance feeling very refreshed and completely awake.

As you can see using self hypnosis is something that anyone can do regardless of who they are.  It is a simple process but it will take time to master.  If you do not see the results you are expecting, it just means that you need more practice.
