If you decide that you want to use affirmations as part of your self-hypnosis relaxation process, then you need to prepare the particular affirmations that you want to use before you actually start the session, because you do not want to think about them once you have reached a state of deep relaxation. Then the first thing you want to do in order to actually start the process of your self-hypnosis is to relax your body, and the best way to do this is to close your eyes and imagine waves of relaxation running down your body.
Then you want to start using suggestion in order to father deepen the state of relaxation that you are in. This means, for instance, speaking or thinking to yourself and telling yourself that you are in a state of relaxation, with the most traditional approach of suggesting sleepiness to yourself being with you repeating to yourself: "I am tired and sleepy. I can feel the heaviness in my arms and legs. I am more and more tired…" Typical self-hypnosis lasts anywhere from 15-25 minutes, although you can certainly make it last as long as you like.
Overall, it is incredibly easy to see just how practical and effective a technique self-hypnosis is, and one of the best parts of all is that it can be used can be used with or without affirmation, depending on exactly what it is that you want to achieve.
