In recent years, more people have more knowledge on hypnosis and are able to dispel some myths on hypnoiss. However, there are still many people that have many misconceptions about hypnosis. Hypnosis has picked up many weird and interesting myths and misconceptions that are completely untrue. And most of the time, people get the misconceptions from the media.

There are actually quite a few different hypnosis myths out there, one of the most major hypnosis myths being that all hypnosis is the same. This is definitely a false statement, and as with anything else, hypnosis can be bad, good, or indifferent. The actually good hypnosis uses very subtle psychological principles and advanced communication patterns, and depending on what you are getting hypnosis for, the form in which it is delivered will vary accordingly.
Another one of the most common hypnosis myths is that some people cannot be hypnotized, or that they can stop themselves from being hypnotized, and actually this is completely untrue. In fact, the only possible way that you would not be able to be hypnotized is if you are incapable of paying attention due to extremely low IQ or brain damage, for instance.
Another myth is that you will lose control when you are hypnotized, again a common belief that is entirely untrue. It is basically the media which has worked to create this belief, when in fact, when you are hypnotized, you are relaxed and focused, and you are able to choose to get up and walk away at any time, if you want to. You choose to give your attention to the hypnotist, and in the same regards you are able to withdraw it at any time you like. If you have been scared of going to see a hypnotist in the past due to myths such as these, then you should know that there is absolutely no reason to be afraid. In fact more than anything you are likely to feel more relaxed and at ease before, during and after your hypnosis than you have ever been before in your life.
Indeed, hypnosis is an effective tool not only for relaxation but also solve many of our complex problems. They can be smoking addiction, weight loss problems, anger, depression or anxiety.
